Challenges
When we got to explore the ins and outs of the eQuran-e-Kareem website:
- There was no fluid navigation or web architecture.
- Not enough dedicated web pages for each subject / clustered information
- The technologies used were found to be outdated as well
- Many web pages had problems redirecting users to the intended pages.
- Slower page loading and responsiveness needed to be addressed as well.
The earlier version of this website was as simple as it could be, but now it requires a strong developmental metamorphosis for amplified structure and performance.
Solutions
1. Discovery
There needed to be a complete and thorough analysis of website shortcomings and where users felt confused or misguided. To develop an effective makeover strategy, we felt the need to implement the following phases.
• Website Audit
Conducted comprehensive stakeholder interviews, to identify the gaps in performance between web pages. Figuring out where navigation needed to be improved including load speed. Renewed the content strategy to address outdated content and implement how newer information needed to be expressed on all pages with SEO and visibility perspective.
• Analytics Audit
We took a deep dive into analytics reports and stats. Observed bounce rate, internal search, dwell time, page load speed, and impressions to see how well is the website performing at the current level.
Making note of Individual page views to see which pages are getting more engagement and are fulfilling business needs.
Along with landing page reviews, organic traffic, and identifying traffic sources to better grasp the targeted audiences.
• Usability testing
User experiences need to be taken into account, so we conducted extensive tests via beta testers. To see how different users interact with this website on different devices.
We figured out some bugs and error messages that needed to be eradicated.
Our team iterated the same process till we got the optimal satisfaction rate.
2. Development Strategy
After assessing the above-mentioned metrics, we came up with an effective UX strategy for website redesign.
• Creating an efficient web structure
To simplify and make the content more digestible to users, we had to develop an efficient layout. An organized correlation between web pages and other features led to a speedy and user-friendly browsing experience.
• Wireframing and Prototype
Devised and developed comprehensive wireframes to mimic the actual design of our proposed solution. The presentation was given to all stakeholders for review. After addressing more customizations, it was sent for approval.
We aimed for an ideal user flow by setting the priority of each page according to requirements.
• CMS shift ( WordPress -> Node JS )
→ Front-end development
For better scalability and outreach, we decided to migrate the content management system(CMS) from WordPress to Node JS. Wrote the code on a responsive framework that provided optimal user experience. This required carefully exporting databases and mapping them on the new server.
→ Back-end Development
We updated eQuran-e-Kareem DNS Settings and URLs. Experts created a new, organized, and grand database structure.
→ Agile Methodology
Our team decided on the Agile approach as it posed a more faster and effective testing of each phase.
And it allowed this project and website to adapt to our redesign plan. More customizations and improvements were made possible along the way via this approach.
3. Testing & Launch
Inviting beta testers to check out and use the website on smartphones, Tablets, laptops, and computers for review. This helped us get a glimpse of ground-level user experience, and positive and negative feedback to be taken into account while we run this MVP version for a final launch.
This allowed us to create the additional pages with enhanced performance and precision.
